The 16 to 19 Bursary Fund is a limited amount of money made available by the government to students whose access to education is inhibited by financial constraints or barriers. This means that you can get a bursary to help with education-related costs. It can be used to pay for things like clothing, books and other equipment for your course, transport and refreshments at College.
To consider your eligibility for a 16 to 19 ‘Discretionary Bursary’, our Finance Department will look at your individual circumstances – this usually includes your family income. This is a limited fund and the level of the award will be at the discretion of the College and will vary according to individual
We also provide the 16 to 19 ‘Vulnerable student bursary’ where you could receive up to £1200 if at least one of the following applies:
- You are in or recently left local authority care
- You get Income Support or Universal Credit because you’re financially supporting yourself
- You get Disability Living Allowance (DLA) in your name and either Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) or Universal Credit
- You get Personal Independence Payment (PIP) in your name and either ESA or Universal Credit.
